We are a small university, but our goal is to make a big and lasting impact in Saudi Arabia and the world.

We are also a young university. In fact, I have the rare privilege, as a member of KAUST’s Board of Trustees to have seen the institution grow from an idea into what is now the most important university in the region and an emerging leader on the world stage. In the 10 years since KAUST’s founding, I have watched with excitement as it achieved milestones and breakthroughs.

When the opportunity came to become KAUST’s third president, I knew I had to take on the once-in-a-lifetime challenge. I hope to build on the amazing momentum of the last 10 years and guide us into the next chapter. 

We will continue to push the limits of knowledge in our strategic research, which address the world’s pressing priorities in food, water, environment. We will reach even further in our efforts to support entrepreneurship, economic development, and innovation. We will foster collaboration with partners and sectors in Saudi Arabia and globally. We will nurture great minds and develop future scientific and thought leaders. And in the Kingdom’s unprecedented era of transformation, we will continue to fulfill our mission to support the Saudi Vision 2030 priorities.

Our faculty and students are world-class. Our facilities are among the best you will find. Our location is unique and our campus is beautiful. Our vision is ambitious.
